BTO and Carpentaria Shire Council scooped up an Excellence Award for a Queensland Water Project under $5 million, at the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia Queensland Conference in October 2011. The award recognises the effective implementation of the Normanton Water Treatment Plant upgrade, which continued to operate throughout the project without interruption to supply. The remote location threw up plenty of surprises and challenges which the project team has managed to ably meet. The plant now produces water of an exceptional quality, under widely varying seasonal raw water conditions. Read more about the project here.
